Hamaqatain is authored by Mr. Shafiq Ur Rehman (Late) who is a well known Urdu short stories writer and a popular humorist author. He was one of the most illustrious writers of the Urdu speaking world. Like western Mark Twain and Stephen Leacock, he has given enduring pleasure to his readers. He was a medical doctor by profession, and served in Pakistan Army. He also received Hilal-e-Imtiaz for his military and civilian services. He has widely been appreciated by writers and critics of Urdu literature. 

Hamaqatain Urdu book is the masterpiece of the author Mr. Shafiq Ur Rahman who has collected different comic stories. He has written all the stories in a very funny way. The fist story in the book "Hamaqatain" Neeli Jheel is very interesting especially for teenagers. I have read Neeli Jheel in the 9th class Urdu book and all of my class-fellows have appreciated the story very much. We considered that  the Neeli Jheel story is especially written for us because Mr. Shafiq Ur Rahman has written this story about himself when he was a teen. Rest of the stories are also beautiful and interesting. After getting popularity of this book Hamaqatain, the author then wrote the second series of this book namely "Mazeed Hamaqatain".
